In a workshop session during Tuesday’s council meeting, Police Chief Steve Griffith recommended a plan for CAST members to assist police officers with handicap parking enforcement. Griffith pointed out that citizen volunteers can be used by amending portion of the city code to allow the police chief to assign civilian employees or civilian volunteers to issue municipal citations for parking violations. Council is expected to act on the proposal at a future council meeting."
